Goodbye November

I'm sad to say but NaNoWriMo has ended. Even though it's sad to see it end I guess it's for the best. I didn't have anymore story to write.
It was a very good month for me. I got way  more than 50k words (244,740 to be exact) and finished three first drafts of novels. I won't be able to edit any of them soon because now I am going to go back to editing ASW like I was supposed to be doing before NaNoWriMo started. Editing isn't very fun for me but I'm kind of looking forward to starting it again. Now is the time where I need to get serious about editing. I would love to be able to submit ASW to publishers around September or maybe I'll wait till after NaNoWriMo next year so I can write the fourth in the Winter series before I get depressed because my novel keeps getting rejected and all the agents think I'm the worst writer who ever lived and that I would be doing everyone a favor if I gave up writing completely.
I'm both hoping and worried that I will get even more words next year. This year I got way more than I expected so I ended up mostly pantsing my second two novels which is not something I like to. I prefer outlining. To make sure this doesn't happened next year I'm going to write at least four outline. I don't think I'll need four but I didn't think I would need three or even two this year and I did.
Maybe next year I'll write even more.
I'm probably going to have to start outlining for November in May or June which sounds crazy. If I don't use all the outlines during NaNo 2011 I'll just use one the next time I write a story. You can never really have too many outlines. At least I don't think you can.
I'm also trying to get more createspace codes since I have three novels instead of the usual one. So far I have managed to get one in addition to the one I already have. My family wants to read one of my novels but I'm not sure if I'm going to let them. ASW still needs editing as do all my novels. Besides, if I end up self-publishing I'm going to need them to buy my novel which sounds pathetic but is true.
Hopefully I'll be able to get more than one more createspace code in case I decide to let my family read one of my drafts. If any of you have a code you do not want I would love if you could give it to me. I would be very grateful.
Since I cannot wait until NaNo starts again I have decided that I will probably do script frenzy. I think my script is going to be a historical fiction but I haven't yet decided on the time period it will take place in. I'm leaning toward the American Revolution or the Holocaust. I know those are two very different periods but I'm very interested in both of them. I'm a Social Studies major so writing a story that takes place in the chance will probably be a lot of fun for me. I'm going to have to decide what time period it takes place in soon so I can start researching.
Anyway I hope everyone had a fun NaNo like I did and I hope you all come back for it next year too.G

Rewrites and Editing

Last night I went a little crazy. Not only did I rewrite chapter one but I also edited four other chapters. I edited one today also. The ones I edited last night I might not have done a great job on since I only edited on the computer but the chapter six should be good now.

I almost want to see if I can finish draft four before NaNoWriMo.

I detest rewrites

But I'm going to force myself to rewrite the first chapter of "A Stolen Winter" (ASW) today anyways. I tried to read it last night and I just couldn't do. It's a horribly written chapter, especially when Calla thinks about her siblings and compares herself to them in appearance and temperament. People do not do that randomly. I know I don't randomly start comparing myself to Krissy. I didn't even get to the kidnapping part but I'm sure it's horrible too.

The only positive thing is I have some great ideas to make it better. I'll just cut the whole description of Cormac and Delia entirely. I'm pretty sure Wesley describes Delia when he first sees her anyways. For the kidnapping part I plan for Morgan to not say anything and Calla to only hear things such as footsteps when she runs. I think it would be creepier.  I'm also planning to add more details when she’s talking to Fred.

Now I'm starting to feel excited, but I know that won't last long.

Last night I read IHB's first chapter too and it wasn't much better. I didn't read my other two books' but I don't think they'll be as bad. "The Forsaken" is a sequel so I wouldn't have tried to describe characters' appearances as much and in "Lies of Perfection" Mercy is too busy trying to steal from Target to think about appearances and trivial things like that.

Yes, my main character in LoP is a thief...

Outline Finished

Today, I finished writing my outline. This is the first time I have actually completed an outline. Usually I just finish half of it and it usually works. Now that the outline is done I don't know what I should do before NaNoWriMo starts. I thought about doing city description but the only important "city" my characters go to is Moivia City and that's at the end of the novel. Moivia City will be much more important in the third book.

Maybe I'll do another outline. I do have a few ideas for other stories.

Excerpt

Is anyone here willing to read an excerpt from one of my novels? The excerpt is about a character's reaction to being raped so it is important that her reaction is realistic. I'm willing to have people critique on the writing in my excerpt too but I'm mostly trying to find out if Catie's reaction is accurate. Since it's about rape I know it could be upsetting to some.

If you're willing to read it just comment below. Thanks!

Rachel and the Never Ending Outline

I'm still working on my outline as you probably assumed from the title. It has been going well but the outline is getting very large. I am on chapter forty-three in the outline and I probably have at least twenty more chapters to outline. ASW was is only forty-eight chapters long so the sequel is going to be much longer. I doubt I'll be able to finish FoW before the end of November, but at least I won't have any problem reaching 50K.

Outlining my novel

I thought outlining "Fears of Winter" would be boring and I would get bored right away. At first, yes, it was boring, but now I'm getting to the good parts of my novel it's getting really interesting. It's even starting to interfere with my sleep. I just hope that when November actually comes along my outline won't keep me from having fun. I don't think it will.
